What's the candidate profile look like?
Djinni is an anonymous job search for developers with almost 70K candidates online. This post contains a detailed analysis of who you can hire at Djinni and how much time, money and effort it will take. Spoiler: less than you expect.
52% of candidates have 2+ years of experience in a given field and at least an intermediate level of English.
Median net salary for senior tech specialists is $5K a month + 5% flat tax (for Ukrainians).
Response rate of active candidates is 46%.

There are 68,5K candidates online at Djinni as of the beginning of November 2022 (+7% in a month). About 60% of them are tech professionals like developers, QAs, DevOps, architects, etc. Non-tech specialists include designers and artists, product and project managers, marketers and so on.
The median net salary for senior tech specialists is $5K a month
At Djinni candidates specify the monthly salary they want to receive. You can hire an experienced software engineer for $5K per month and a junior one for $500. There is a 5% flat tax most Ukrainian developers pay while working with a direct contract.
The upper quartile for experienced tech specialists is about $6K ($72K annually). The most expensive hires at Djinni are CTOs and senior DevOps for $10 - 12K a month.
Here is the salary distribution for candidates with at least two years of experience in the most popular tech categories. Based on confirmed hires in 2022.
62% of candidates have at least 2 years of experience
The share of candidates with no experience relevant to the desired position is about 15%. Yet senior candidates with 5+ years of experience are still the biggest segment with 34%.
78% of candidates have at least intermediate English proficiency
More than 63% of the most experienced segment has upper intermediate or advanced English. In general, years of experience correlate with language proficiency.
Azerbaijan, Poland and more: Candidates from 50+ locations
80% of the candidates at Djinni are from Ukraine, but we also have specialists from all around the world with Azerbaijan and Poland being the two biggest segments. Overall, there are candidates from 120 countries and 52 countries with at least 50 candidates.
98% of candidates are willing to work remotely
Candidates at Djinni can choose suitable employment options: remote work, full-time, part-time, freelance (one-time projects), moving to another city or relocating to another country.
30% of candidates agree to relocate and 42% want to work on one-time projects.
Response rate of active candidates is 46%
The main feature of Djinni is that candidates come here to look for a job. Therefore they write messages to recruiters and respond to them. On average, a candidate writes 4 applications in a month and receives 2 contact requests from recruiters.
A candidate can choose active or passive search. Passive means they are not looking for a job right now, but will potentially accept an attractive offer. A share of candidates in active search is 70% and their average response rate is 46%. Passive candidates respond only to 8,6% of proposals from recruiters.
It takes 2-4 weeks from publishing a job to a hire
The hiring process is very straightforward at Djinni. You publish a job, write to candidates and answer their applications. The whole process usually takes up to a month.
